Jeffrey Michael, Ed.D. is a Visiting Scholar at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health where he pursues a range of research and advocacy exploring public health and motor vehicle safety.
Dr. Michael previously served as Associate Administrator for Research and Program Development at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration with responsibility for the development of programs to increase seat belt use, decrease impaired driving, improve emergency medical services, and enhance the safety of motorcyclists, bicyclists, pedestrians and older drivers. During his thirty year tenure at NHTSA, he also served as Director of the Impaired Driving and Occupant Protection Office and as Chief of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Division.
